Understanding the Grid System
Last updated: January 11, 2025
Grid Basics
YourGarden uses a grid-based system to help you plan your garden layout precisely. Each grid square represents a specific real-world area.
- Grid Square Size: 100mm x 100mm (or 4" x 4" inches)
- Measurement System: Choose between metric and imperial in your settings
- Grid Range: Gardens can be 5x5 to 50x50 squares
- Real-world Example: A 10x10 garden = 1m x 1m (or 40" x 40")
Plant Sizing
Plants in the library are pre-sized based on their mature spread:
- Small plants (1x1): Herbs, small flowers, compact vegetables
- Medium plants (2x2): Lettuce, small shrubs, bush tomatoes
- Large plants (3x3+): Fruit trees, large shrubs, sprawling vegetables
Grid Navigation
- Zoom: Use the zoom slider or mouse wheel to get a detailed view
- Pan: Click and drag the grid to move around large gardens
- Grid Numbers: Toggle grid coordinates for precise placement
